Equipping vulnerable youth with practical skills for self-reliance.
The Skilling Program at the Bwindi Orphans Empowerment Centre (BOEC) is designed to equip orphans and youth with disabilities with practical, hands-on skills that enable them to become self-reliant and financially independent. By providing training in tailoring, welding, crafts, and entrepreneurship, we empower young people to create opportunities for themselves and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Youth enrolled in the program receive daily mentorship and practical training under the guidance of skilled instructors. As they develop their expertise, participants contribute to producing handmade items that are sold to support the Centre’s sustainability. This hands-on approach ensures that learners gain real-world experience while contributing to the community.
Upon graduation, each participant receives startup capital and ongoing mentorship to help them establish income-generating ventures. Beyond skill-building, the program provides a safe and nurturing environment with meals, guidance, and emotional support, ensuring holistic development for every young participant.
By equipping youth with practical skills and supporting them through mentorship and startup capital, BOEC ensures that every participant has the tools to build a sustainable future and break the cycle of dependency.
