Empowering Orphans & Youth with Disabilities Through Education, Skills & Hope
Bwindi Orphans Empowerment Centre (BOEC) is a registered non-profit, community-based organization founded in 2024 with a heartfelt mission to restore dignity, hope, and opportunity to orphans and youth with disabilities living near the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda.
We recognize the harsh realities faced by many vulnerable children in this region — poverty, abandonment, disability, and lack of access to education and basic care. BOEC exists to change that narrative. Our center provides a safe, nurturing environment where children not only find shelter and food, but also the tools and skills to thrive in life.
Through our core programs — education sponsorship, vocational skilling, micro-loans for guardians, sustainable agriculture, and a rescue home for the most at-risk children — we aim to create a holistic support system that empowers every child to become a confident, self-reliant adult.
Since our founding, BOEC has grown steadily, currently supporting over 60 children directly, while reaching many more through community outreach. Our work is driven by local leadership, volunteers, and the generous support of donors and partners who believe in our cause.
Located in Buhoma, Kanungu District, BOEC is officially registered under Uganda’s Community-Based Organization (CBO) framework (Reg. No. 216/2025). We are committed to transparency, sustainability, and long-term impact for generations to come.
To create an improved community through sustainable skills development where orphaned children and caregivers are empowered with practical, affordable alternatives for a better life.
To facilitate unity and advancement of orphans and youth with disabilities through advocacy, access to resources, education, and life-changing skills development.
We are here to help you plan the best experience.
